How to choose a processor

  • Match the socket first. AMD Ryzen 5000 series uses AM4; Intel 12th gen uses LGA1700. The CPU and motherboard must share a socket.
  • Check for integrated graphics. Models with an “F” suffix have none and need a graphics card.
  • Plan memory early. Some platforms support DDR4 only, others DDR5, and some boards support either — confirm before quoting.
