How to choose a rack server

  • Pick the form factor. 1U servers are compact and suit compute-heavy racks; 2U servers have more room for drives, GPUs and expansion cards.
  • Single or dual socket. Single-socket platforms can be cost-efficient for high-core-count compute; dual-socket platforms add cores, memory and PCIe lanes.
  • Plan storage and GPUs early. Drive bay layout (SFF, LFF, NVMe) and GPU support differ by chassis, so confirm before quoting.
  • Quote by configuration. Server pricing depends on CPU, memory, storage, networking and support; confirm the exact configuration with the vendor.
